I say I want to feel amazing, do cool impressive things, and fuck like a goddess… and then I poo poo all the ways that will get me there.
We all do this.
This fighting with pleasure potential.
Take for instance, this past weekend.
We were invited to camp at Lake Tahoe for my sister’s 40th birthday.
It was MAGIC.
And yet, I fought myself the Whole. Way. There.
I’m not prepared
I’m doing all the heavy lifting
It’s too hard
I’m too busy
I’m so tired
Jeremy should be doing more
I don’t know how
I can’t spend the money
It’s dangerous
The kids are too crazy
Ugh, it’s not worth it
I’m so rusty, I can’t do it
This is so overwhelming, I’m freaking out.
Literally, all last week I watched my brain have TANTRUMS.
The night before we left for camping in Tahoe, I refused to pack with Jeremy, bc I needed “rest” (at 9pm, ummm scrolling IG)
I was in full resistance mode.
Why do we do this to ourselves?
Why do we actively block our own pleasure?
I knew logically I’d love camping under the stars, in the breathtaking mountains with my favorite people.
I ALSO knew I was even making it so much harder by dragging my heels.
Yet, I was stuck battling the pile of old, dusty camping gear, unable to see the magical sunset in my future.
Why???
It’s simple.
In my head, the immediate work didn’t outweigh the pleasure potential.
TOTALLY NORMAL BRAIN BULLSHIT.
Especially #PMS brain. #justsayin
The solution?
Breath
+
Intensional pleasure
+
Intensional discomfort
=
MAGIC
In other words:
Slow down & breathe!
Decide to feel good!
Expect (and allow) brain tantrums along the way!
